What I’m Working on – Acorn/ Elf hats

Show and tell:

For now I have moved on from bags, and lately I have been working on baby Items. A few things for baby Joy, and some items for other family members’ expected little ones. I have also been making some new items for my store. I wanted to share some of them with you.

Acorn & Elf hats:

Acorn HatI found this adorable pattern in Crochet One Skein Wonders for Babies. Already, I have made four because I love it so much! I did change up the band a little. Otherwise you can find the exact pattern there. However, if you don’t want to do the work you can buy one here. I am going to list these today.

Elf HatElf HatThese two are just the cutest Elf hats for Christmas.

Other hats:

newborn hatUsually I do not care for the color pink, but I made a pink newborn hat. The pattern is from the same book, and the yarn is Caron simply soft. I haven’t decided if I will keep it, give it away, or sell it yet.

Lace girl's hatRecently, I was given some yarn from my grandmother’s stash. I think it’s size “1”. So I made a lacy little girl’s hat. The lavender on top I had leftover from some socks I made last year. The blue was my grandma’s yarn.

ombre cowlThis first cowl was a pattern from one of my books I believe. I wanted to try it out. It’s mostly chains and single crochet and took a bit longer than I wanted, but I love how it looks with the yarn’s color changes.

ombre cowl 2I had yarn left after finishing the first cowl so I decided to make another. To begin I was looking at a pattern, but I thought the starting chain count was way off. So I picked a picture that I liked and kinda made it up as I went. I think I would have liked it to be a little wider, but otherwise it turned out great.

Last I found this awesome yarn on clearance, and it was perfect for this pattern that I wanted to try. (I think I joined the ends different than the pattern says to though) It was very fast and easy, and I think it turned out beautifully. I might just keep this one. It’s really warm and soft. cowl

In Progress:

Bernat Baby SportI am also working on three blankets. Two are from the patterns that come on the ball of yarn, Bernat baby sport.

I love this yarn, it makes really nice squishy blankets, and I think the big ball size that I bought was only $5-6 at Walmart. The only downside is it is lightweight size “3” yarn so it takes a bit longer to make a blanket than a bulky size “6” yarn would.Bernat Baby Sport

The third blanket is a pattern that I came up with, and I am using 3 large balls of Bernat Baby Blanket yarn in the color seafoam for this one. This pattern is really simple, and I may be posting it once I finish this blanket.

While you’re looking, check out my Bella Baby Blanket Pattern too.

scarf? This one was going to be a blanket, but I’m not real excited about the pattern or the yarn. Last night I decided I might try to turn it into a nice scarf.

The pattern, which you can find at Lacy Crochet, I think is very pretty. Just, I have gotten really bored with it and want this thing to be done already. I think it will make a lovely scarf.

My mom gave me this yarn and I’m not sure how old it is probably at least 10 years? The yarn is Caron simply soft which I normally love, but these skeins are old and my hook keeps getting stuck in the yarn. I think Caron must spin their yarn tighter these days because I have not had this problem with them before. I might try knitting something with the rest of them and see if it works better on knitting needles than crochet.

elephantI started making this elephant for Joy when I found out I was pregnant. Oh and I used Caron simply soft yarn for this without any problems. All that is left is to put on some eyes and stitch the toes, but I have been putting it off.

I also plan to make a soft teddy bear from a pattern in Crochet One Skein Wonders for Babies. This pattern calls for Bernat Blanket yarn which I think will be really soft and cuddly.

What are you working on? If you try out any of these patterns I would love to see how yours turns out. Also, if you are interested in purchasing any of these items finished please contact me, and/or check my Etsy store. Thanks for reading!
